In loving thought we share the passing of our dear Sheelagh Moore, much loved mother of Bryan (Wendy-Ann) and Chris (Deanna Clee); grandmother of Brynlyn, Shaden, Robin and Tegan and great grandmother of Saiche Moore. Sheelagh was pre-deceased by her eldest son, Bryan and her sister, Zona Davidson.
Sheelagh was born in the small prairie rail town of Viceroy, Saskatchewan and loved to reminisce about growing up in “the station”, a CPR station of which her father was station master and in which her mother served many meals to men-in-service, rail workers and migrants. She lived her teen years in Moose Jaw, Sask., where she developed her love of tennis and of swimming with summers spent at nearby Buffalo Pound Lake.
Sheelagh lived most of her adult life in Fort Saskatchewan, AB where she raised her two boys and embraced her small town community with enthusiasm. She was always an avid member of the tennis club, bridge clubs, Women’s Auxiliary/ACW, swimming and bowling league. After retirement from her secretarial position in the Environmental Control department at Dow Chemical, Sheelagh adjusted her activities tenaciously as she navigated her developing near- blindness and emphysema, accepting help of her gracious friends. Their assistance carried her into an old age with trips to the pool and keeping her bowling average acceptable by advising her which pins were still standing. With a bright, sincere laugh and always delighted to find a penny, Sheelagh was one of a generation who taught an open door and always enjoyed an extra bike or two on the front lawn. We carry her with us, now and forever in gratitude and extension of her enthusiastic Love and Light.
Sheelagh’s family is grateful to the staff at HSN Touchwood who, under strained conditions, remain motivated through true caring and love.
A celebration of her life will occur on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Georges Anglican Church, 10029-99 Ave, Fort Saskatchewan. Memorial donations in Sheelagh’s honor may be made directly to Edmonton Humane Society or The War Amps.
Cremation has taken place at Capital City Cremation in Edmonton, Alberta.
Maureen and Paul says
So many happy memories of visiting the Fort with you Chris to see your mom. And sharing Christmas dinner with her at our house was a treat! The way that she kept doing what she loved despite blindness, was inspiring. We loved her and will miss her. She was blessed to have such a kind, patient, loving son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids. Our love and condolences are with you at this very sad time.
Love Maureen and Paul
