It is with great love and sadness we announce that Sean Michael Pringle of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 49 on February 6, 2024 after a heroic three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sean (aka “H’) was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jen; mother, Pat Murphy; brother, Kevin (Dawne); niece, Lucy; nephew, Owen; step-sister, Victoria Domshy (Paul); as well as numerous friends and extended family. He is predeceased by his father, Jim (Charmaine).
He will be remembered for his patient and gentle nature. Never one to complain, Sean faced every challenge with strength and determination and he was an absolute warrior in his battle with cancer.
Sean was known for his love of hockey (Go Oilers!), chess, astronomy and science (he received his bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Alberta). His career in software development was born from a love of computers which he shared with his father. Sean’s career and hobbies often overlapped, and he loved to spend time developing his coding and 3D animation skills.
He was passionate about music, a talented guitar player (though he would deny it) and an avid concert goer. He could solve the Rubik’s Cube in less than a minute and his happy place was skiing Marmot Basin in Jasper.
He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Sean will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, cash donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or a blood donation can be made at Canadian Blood Services.
Many thanks to Sean’s caregivers at the Cross Cancer Institute, University of Alberta Hospital, and Capital Care Norwood.

I had the privilege to work with Sean briefly last year. I knew Sean as a talented and passionate developer who clearly took pride in the quality of his work. He took on challenging assignments with a calm and positive attitude, and I really enjoyed being on a project team with him. Sean was quite private but I remember he was excited to take time off to marry the love of his life. I was deeply saddened to hear of Sean’s passing and just wanted to let you know that our thoughts are with Sean’s family and loved ones on this day.
