On 9 September, 2022, Ronald David Karoles of Edmonton passed away at the age of 84.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Leanne Karoles (William MacKinnnon) and Lara Karoles (Mark Umland); and grandchild, Molly Umland Karoles.
Ron’s passions included football and antique cars. He played football in high school, never missed an Edmonton Eskimos game on TV and attended live games when he could. He liked to build model vintage cars, and in the 80’s drove 1956 yellow T-bird convertible. Ron was a lawyer for many years and taught his daughters the art of negotiation. He had a dream project he had worked on for years: a raised high speed train that would run between Edmonton and Calgary and continue north and south. If passion could make a project happen, there would be raised high speed transit systems across the country. Ron regularly attended church and took comfort in his faith during difficult times. These last years he lived at the Good Samaritan Dr. Zetter centre. He had great care at this home. His room was bright and open, and his view included trees and the big Alberta sky. The recreation team set up video calls every week between Ron and his two daughters in Ontario.
A private family service was held on 19 September 2022.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Good Samaritan Dr. Zetter Centre. Your caring and support for Ron will always be remembered.
