Roger Arsène Morin passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2022.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Thérèse (Baril). He will also be greatly missed by his children, son Pierre (Lea Begin), their children, Aimée Rae, Annalise, Alaura; daughter, Chantal (Michael) McLarty, their children, Taylor, Everett, Caelan; and daughter, Danielle (Paul) Violini, their children Jonah, Gabriel, Jude.
Roger is also survived by three brothers, Thomas (Jackie), Raymond (Lana), and Marc (Hélène Bérubé); many extended family and friends. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Arsène and Maria; and his brother, Denis.
Roger was born March 6th, 1943 at the Edmonton General Hospital. He was the eldest of five sons and spent much of his childhood on the Morin family farm in Legal playing with cousins. Roger attended Collège St. Jean and then went to N.A.I.T. in Distributive Technology.
Roger and Thérèse were married on May 4th, 1968. He was a proud father of three and despite his shift work, he stayed involved in their schooling and activities, even coached them in baseball and hockey. He was able to share his love of the outdoors through camping trips, family bike rides, fishing, skating and even cross country skiing.
Roger worked for Labatts Brewery for 34 years until his retirement in 2005. He worked hard and his favorite place to relax was the family cottage at Lac La Nonne. He spent hours fishing with the family, many even caught their first fish with Roger by their side. He enjoyed pulling the kids, their friends, nephews and nieces water skiing, but mostly enjoyed riding his tractor and maintaining the lawn across a couple properties. For many years, he had a large garden at the lake and took great pride in sharing his crop.
Roger spent many of his fall breaks hunting with his Labatts buddies, he took much satisfaction in filling the freezer full of moose and deer. He loved to talk about sports especially hockey and to us it seemed like every night was “Hockey Night in Canada”! He had a remarkable memory for movie actor names, and enjoyed taking his family out to the movies with his Safeway candy stash. The kid’s friends called him “Roger Popcorn Morin” because he often prepared a very large bowl of buttery popcorn and could sometimes be convinced to share. He loved good food and a cold Blue, he especially loved to be in charge of the meat, he sure knew how to BBQ! He was generous hearted, and was an honest ethical man that loved the simple life.
May Roger Rest In Peace.
We would like to thank the Alberta Health Palliative Home Care team for their support and amazing care over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
In honouring Roger’s wishes, a private family celebration will be held at a later date at Lac la Nonne.

Along with hearing the soft fluttering of angel wings, I believe that Roger is hearing the singing of birds very clearly now.
