On November 25, 2022, after battling cancer, Robert (Bob) William Blackwood passed away. He worked for several years as a chartered accountant, then worked at Fiberglass Canada/Owens Corning for 35 years until his retirement. After retiring, Bob became involved in race walking, competing in several marathons. He enjoyed his project of restoring his 1976 Thunderbird (nicknamed “Big Bird”) and attended numerous car shows throughout the years, chatting with everyone about everything! More recently, he got involved in seniors floor curling and again loved the comradery at the events.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, William and Leone Blackwood. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Blackwood; son, Andy Blackwood (Josie); daughter, Kim Phair; grandchildren, Brittany and Shaina Blackwood, Jonah Greckol, Kalina and Rebecca Phair; his sister, Valerie Wozniuk; nieces, Kari-Lynne Sommert (Mel) and Tara-Anne Paccagnan (Joe).
He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity or non-profit organization of one’s choice.
In Our Hearts – Author Unknown
We thought of you today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.
