It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Olga Marshall announce her passing on February 27, 2022, at the age of 95.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon, Colleen, and Denise (Ron Miller); grandchildren, Michael Williams (Jen Nam) and Krista Williams (Adrian Szeligowski); and great-grandchildren, Theo, Clara, Hannah, and Ethan. She is survived by her siblings, Lydia Martin, Londor (Georgette) Krahn, Neil (Darlene) Krahn, Robert (Bob) Krahn, and Linda Hudak; sisters-in-law, Minnie Taylor-Ivey and Gladys Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph William Marshall; parents, Fred and Wanda Krahn; and siblings, Martha Thompson, Katie Stewart, Emma Kramer, August Krahn, Geheart Krahn, Hedy Sherwood, Matey Charchuk, and Margaret Neveu.
Olga immigrated to Canada in 1929 with her parents and siblings Martha and Katie. Her childhood and school years were spent on the farm close to Hines Creek. She worked in Hines Creek, Fairview, and Peace River and attended hairdressing school in Edmonton before marrying Joe Marshall and moving to their farm in Peavine. Olga worked in the nursing home in Mayerthorpe and finished up her years as a health care worker at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Edmonton.
All her life, Mom was a very hard worker. She was always busy with raising farm animals, growing a garden, cooking, canning, baking, sewing, knitting, embroidering and crocheting. After retirement her hobbies extended to include reading, oil painting and going on trips with her sisters.
She was a devoted mom and dedicated her life to her family. The addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of the chief joys of her life. We were lucky to have her as a Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She will be greatly missed.
We are honouring Mom’s wishes; there will be no funeral service. If friends and family wish, in lieu of flowers, please support GEF Seniors Housing (Meadowlark Place) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Edmonton).
