It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Yvonne Eileen Motley of St. Albert on July 6, 2020 at the age of 71 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by son Gary (Jennifer) Motley; and daughter Sherry (David) Constantin; her fond grandchildren (to whom she was known as Nan): Amanda, Stephanie, Kristen, Julie, Garett, Levi, Ethan, Olivia, Justine, Fraser and Landon; her brothers Elmer, Leonard, Earl, Roy, Allan, Lawrence; and her sisters Norma, Janet and Audrey, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She will also be dearly missed by her close friend Christine Abercrombie and her coworkers at the Meridian Foundation.
She was predeceased by her parents John Henry Loyek and Florence Margaret (Weiss); her sister Mable; and her brother Robert.
Yvonne was born in Rimbey and grew up on a farm near Benalto, where her love of horses and the outdoors began. Her working career focused mainly on Office Administration and some of her favourite jobs included working as an esthetician, working for Coca-Cola Bottle Depot and Thompson Bros. Ltd. Yvonne was an avid golfer and spent many of her later years golfing in Kelowna. She enjoyed fishing and hiking, especially in the Nordegg area. On winter evenings, you would catch her reading a good book near the fireplace, while in the summer you could find her at the Farmer’s Market or on the patio enjoying a cold beer with friends. Yvonne had a deep appreciation for wild animals (loons, cheetahs, foxes, wolves), along with the animals at the Edmonton Humane Society that she would visit with her granddaughter Julie, and enjoyed spoiling her two little dogs Tazz and Wilson. Her homemade bread, oven fried chicken and fall off the bone ribs were always a hit, and her family and friends will enormously miss her cooking.
At Yvonne’s request, no service will be held.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the RCMP and Paramedic first responders that answered the call and went above and beyond to assist Yvonne and support the family.

My condolence to Yvonne’s family. Christine and Yvonne just returned to Edmonton after spending a week here in Kelowna. We spent some time shopping , visiting, eating out and playing scrabble, in between the golf games Yvonne and Christine played while they were here. So sorry to hear this sad news.

We love Yvonne. I shall always remember her ready smile; The fact that we shared Yvonne as a name; a trip to Greeshields together and a very brief visit to The Bluffton last fall. She said she would certainly be back for a longer one. And I believe her love lingers.

Sending my love to all Yvonne’s family. May her memories always bring you joy. I am deeply saddened by her passing; and I cherish the gift of having met her and been her friend. The void she leaves in this world can only be filled with the fond memories we have of her.. her smile, her humour, her wisdom, her spunk. She will be missed.
