With sadness, the family of Marion Carol Yalte (née Grylls) announce her passing on April 8, 2022 at the age of 74. She is survived by her husband, Ben; children, Dan and Gail; grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, and Nichola; siblings, Bert, Ken (Emma), Don (Doris), Eleanor, and Lois (Maureen); as well as a large extended family. Predeceased by her parents, Martha and Charles Grylls.
Marion was a country girl at heart, and loved to be outside gardening, or tending to horses, cows, chickens, or any of the other animals she had over the years, including ostriches, and for a while, even beekeeping. Cooking and baking were her other passions, and her cabbage rolls and cinnamon buns were legendary. Her sewing machine was used to lovingly make clothes for her kids and grandkids, and then to mend them when they played too hard. She could certainly hold her own in the city too, and worked in property management for many years. By far though, her favorite job was just being Grandma.
At Marion’s request, there will be no memorial service. The family is very grateful for the care she received at the Edmonton General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

I remember Marion even though I didn’t move to Cando until after she had left. My mother, Jean Scott, actually taught her in Cando when she was in Grade 8. I now live with Marion’s cousin, Doug McConnell. Both Doug and I send our deepest condolences to Marion’s family.

Our sincere condolences. With the extended Grylls and Brewster clans spread all across Canada I hadn’t seen her since our early teens. She was a vibrant, caring person who really loved horses.
