Ivan Douglas (Doug) Wise passed away peacefully August 9th, 2020.
He is lovingly remembered by his two sons Tim (Leslie) of St. Albert and Randy (Sandra) of Surrey, B.C.; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his sister Barbara of Sarnia, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Mary; sisters Beverly and Mary Lou; and parents Ivan and Addie Wise.
Doug served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 16 years and reached the rank of Sargent. After that he was employed by Dow Chemical in Sarnia, Ontario and Fort Saskatchewan for 28 years and served as Fire Chief at the Fort Saskatchewan site. He was heavily involved as a volunteer throughout his life with Citizen’s on Patrol in Fort Saskatchewan, and was the first president of the Alberta chapter. He also supported the Salvation Army, Food Bank, and numerous other agencies.
As per Doug’s request, no service will be planned, and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kipnes Center for Veterans, 4470 McCrae Ave., Edmonton, Alberta T5E 6M8.
We would like to thank the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital Orthopedics Unit, and the amazing staff at the Kipnes Center for Veterans. Your care and support for Dad was greatly appreciated and will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place at Capital City Cremation in Edmonton.

Doug and Mary were amazing friends to my parents and I grew up with them. They always treated me like one of their kids. I have such beautiful memories of Doug and Mary. Christmas was always special time
Of year in their home.
Every woman should be so lucky to have a husband like Doug. He loved Mary so much..I am sure they are dancing and celebrating that they are together again.
