It is with unimaginable sadness that the family of Gordon Douglas Massey announces his unexpected passing on May 31, 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 65. Born April 26, 1958 in Brockville, Ontario to Clarence Massey and Shirley Thomson, Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Thomson) Massey, father, Clarence Massey, and brother, David Massey.
Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Shirley (Wong) Massey whom he married on August 18, 1988 in Edmonton, Alberta; daughter, Amanda Massey; sister, Brenda Spicer; and granddaughter, Freya McNie.
Gordon was an extremely hardworking man who had a passion for life like no other. He started his career as a security guard for Northlands Horse Track and eventually found himself working for the railway industry as a Yardman Conductor at Canadian Pacific Railway until his early retirement. Here he built a well known reputation which had travelled fast in the Railway Industry.
In his free time Gordon enjoyed camping, fishing and boating—especially when he purchased his own houseboat! He had an exciting life full of unique experiences that will be cherished forever.

Mark Shackles says
So sorry to hear of Gord’s passing.
Gord, or Gordy as we all called him, was a childhood neighbor and close friend of my older brothers. I have many memories of Gordy, Dave and Brenda growing up together. I was the youngest of the Shackles, but was usually tagging along behind. I learned much from the older group.
Both good and some things not so good, but we sure had fun.
Rest in peace.
Mark
