Elane Carole Pockiak passed away on November 30th, 2023, at the age of 77. She is survived by her daughter, Kerry (Mark); son, Jeff; her sisters, Lynda and Darleen (Craig); her two grandchildren, Chelsea (Jordan) and Adam (Merilee); and her great granddaughter, Sloane.
Born on December 31st, 1945, Carole was raised in Moose Jaw. As the eldest girl of five siblings (Murray, Gary, Darleen and Lynda) Carole was the glue that kept them all together, she was very close with her siblings and saw her sisters as her best friends. When Carole was in high school, she met the love of her life Bill and from that moment on they were inseparable, the love that these two shared was palpable and served as an inspiration to the kids and grandchildren. They married and made a home in Moose Jaw and then Regina, where they raised their two amazing children. They potentially owned the only outdoor pool in all of Saskatchewan, where they would host many parties for friends and family. Family was at the core of the Carole’s values; they spent many weekends traveling between Regina and Moose Jaw to ensure Kerry and Jeff were raised spending time with their grandparents.
Once the kids had grown, Bill’s work took them to Winnipeg, here they bought a trailer in Netley Creek and created beautiful memories with their grandchildren. There was never a dull moment at Netley Creek, whether they were hosting dinners, fires or happy hours, their trailer was full of good food, cold beer, and tons of laughter.
Finally, Bill’s job took them to Edmonton, where they were ecstatic to be closer to their family, here they were able to visit Calgary more often to watch Chelsea play basketball, Adam play football, and host their son Jeff while he was home from camp in Edmonton. No matter what city or province they lived in, they made deep and meaningful friendships that would always withstand distance or time. That was Carole’s superpower, loving those closest to her.
Carole was a devoted mother, friend, and Baba. To be loved by Carole meant you were always properly fed with homemade perogies, cabbage rolls, and baking. Carole adored her kids and grandchildren; she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them and would drop everything to be there, this included cooking for 16 hungry girls at ringette tournaments (with only a hot pad and slow cooker) or ensuring that Adam never spent a Sunday alone while he was in university. Her love and laugh were infectious and will always be felt by her family and friends.
While Carole will be deeply missed by all, we know that her heart is finally full again being reunited with her husband Bill. There will be no funeral service for Carole per her final wishes, instead we ask that you raise a glass to her memory and share your favorite Carole story with your loved ones.

We were very sad to hear of Carole’s passing. We camped across the street from Bill and Carole at Netley Resorts and were privileged to become friends with them. We enjoyed many a happy hour with the two of them along with a lot of laughs. Their open door policy included our children who enjoyed spending time with Chelsea and Adam when they came to visit in the summer.
We will always remember Carole and know that she is happy being back together with her Bill.
Our sympathy to the whole family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.❤️
