It is with a heavy heart that the family announces that on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 David passed away at the age of 56.
David bravely fought cancer in his final months. Despite our loss, we know that he is at peace and in a beautiful place.
His final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, in the care of the Pilgrims Hospice, mere blocks from where he was raised and in turn raised his own family.
He will be forever missed by his family, Jodi (the mother to his children); son, Jackson; daughter, Sydney; his partner, Janet; her four daughters, Cassidy, Hayley, Kate and Billie; brother, Jay, as well as all extended family.
David was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Nanette.
In his long career in the hospitality industry, David connected with many people. Affectionately known as “Fritzy”, David was the source of countless moments of laughter and joy. David graduated from the University of Guelph in 2009 with an MBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management while overseeing numerous restaurants and coaching his son’s hockey team.
David was the consummate host both in business and his personal life, and had the rare talent of making anyone he interacted with feel as though they were the most important person in the room. He was both an entrepreneur and a philanthropist who was deeply committed to making the world a better place.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Pilgrims Hospice Society to further honour David’s legacy.

Dave was one of the most influential people in my life. While always a little enigmatic, Fritzie was sincerely interested in everyone. I loved him and will miss his mentorship.
