It is with great sorrow that the family of Darwin Michael Holowenko (Eilliott) announces his unexpected death on Wednesday September 30, 2020 in Fort McMurray, AB at the age of 57.
Darwin was predeceased by his father Michael Holowenko, his mother Vivian (Sloan) Elliott, and sister Shelly (Elliott) Provost-Campbell.
Darwin is survived by his beloved daughter, Jenna (Sevius) Elliott; son, Jarrett (Tayler) McDonald; grand-daughter, Zoe Annie McDonald; sister, Wendy (Gary) Bobbett; nephews, Richard (Kayla) Provost and Darwin (Shelby) Campbell; niece, Taylor (Jay) Campbell; great-nephew, Derek Jutras Provost; great-niece, Chloe Patricia Provost; and last but not by any means least, his fur baby Betty Boop (aka BooBoo) who was faithfully by his side for the past several years. He loved his little buddy and could often been seen with her riding on his shoulder. Darwin leaves to mourn many family and life long friends.
Darwin was born in Hinton, AB on March 5, 1963, but spent the majority of his life in Saskatoon. He was very mechanically inclined and would often be called upon for auto repairs by family and friends. In his younger years his passion and talents were put to into building his Monster Truck as well as working on and driving stock cars out at the track in Saskatoon. He loved nothing more than taking his daughter out to the track to watch her daddy drive. He spent many years working in the oil patches which had him on the move through Saskatchewan and Alberta. He resided and worked in and around Edmonton for a number of years before moving back to Saskatoon for several years. Eventually he made his way up to Fort McMurray where he was living at the time of his death. After many years of back breaking work on the oil rigs, he had turned in his wrenches for a hammer and power tools and was putting his talents to work remodeling homes and businesses and made many friends as he made a life in the Fort McMurray community. Darwin was quite the story teller and he loved telling a good joke and when he heard a good one he had a laugh that was a unique rolling chuckle that would have you laughing more at his laugh than the joke. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
No service will be held as per Darwin’s wishes but a Celebration of Life will be held in Saskatoon for friends and family whom will be notified at a later date. His interment will follow in the Maryland Cemetery in Lampman, SK.
Cremation has taken place at Capital City Cremation in Edmonton.
