It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darrell Collier, born February 12, 1981, in Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland. Darrell departed this world on May 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories.
Darrell grew up in the tight-knit community of Rose Blanche, where he attended St. Michael’s Elementary School. He attended high school at Grandy’s River Collegiate School in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland. In November 2004, he moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta, where he continued to build his life and family.
He is remembered with love by his two sons, Graham Collier and Hudson Collier; along with their mother, Destini Collier; and his beloved, Vicki MacAskill. Darrell was a hard-working man who would go out of his way to help those in a tight situation. He enjoyed hiking, heading to the mountains with his kids, and camping. He also loved getting out on his motorbike whenever he could.
He leaves behind his brother, Greg Collier; niece, Kaitlyn Collier; and nephew, Dion Collier. His parents, Elizabeth Ann and Wesley Samuel Collier, preceded him in death, and their memories were always close to his heart.
Darrell was known for his friendship and the joy he found in spending time with those he cared about. His friends were an important part of his life, and he cherished every moment shared with them.
A Celebration of Life to honor Darrell’s life will be held on September 7, 2024, at Dimsdale Hall, west of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Family, friends, and all who knew Darrell are invited to join in celebrating his life and the impact he had on those around him.
