It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Colleen Marshall announce her sudden passing. She is survived by her sisters, Sharon Marshall and Denise Miller (Ron); her nephew, Michael (Jen Nam) and their children, Clara and Ethan; and her niece, Krista (Adrian Szeligowski) and their children, Theo and Hannah. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph in 1986; her partner, Don Dickau in 2002; and her mother, Olga in 2022.
Colleen was born in Mayerthorpe, and spent most of her childhood and adolescence on the farm at Peavine. Those years were filled with lots of fun farm activities and her dog Curly was part of it all. He would be the first pet in a long line of animals Colleen pampered. She attended school in Sangudo and Mayerthorpe and graduated in 1973. Colleen attended the Dental Assistant program at NAIT and worked in dental practices in the Edmonton area. She worked at the University of Alberta Emergency Dental Clinic and eventually became the office manager there. She also worked in real estate for a time. Other interests included modelling, caring for her pet cats, and amassing an impressive shoe collection. Colleen enjoyed camping, watching Nascar races and listening to the music of Kris Kristofferson and John Prine.
Colleen was a kind daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was thrilled to become Auntie Col when Michael and Krista were born and was interested in what the next generation “little kids” were up to. Health issues for much of her adult life were dealt with quietly and with dignity. Colleen’s gentle nature and soft-spoken manner will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
As per Colleen’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
