It is with sadness that the family advises of the death of our wife and Mother. Anne McAffer (Hogg) Weiss passed away March 10, 2021 of complications from COPD and associated Heart failure.
Anne was born to Sarah and Walter Hogg in 1946 in Glasgow Scotland. The family immigrated to Medicine Hat, AB in 1957 where Anne met Eric and later married her high school sweetheart in 1966. Anne was a stay at home mom and often was the “den” mother to neighborhood kids.
As the kids grew, Anne began volunteering. The family is proud of Anne’s 3 year service to the Winterburn Volunteer Fire Department and is especially proud of her 25 years with EPS -West Edm Victim Services unit where she was able to assist thousands of individuals in crisis.
Anne was predeceased by her parents and grand-nephew (Christopher Cassens). She is survived by her husband, Eric; daughter, Virginia (Jason) Oshann of Edmonton; son, Eric (Lisa) Weiss of Blackfalds; grandson, Daniel Oshann of Edmonton; sister, Helen (Rick) Adel of Vauxhall; brother, Walter (Dorothy) Hogg of Princeton BC; sister- in-law, Maxine (John) Farden of Sioux Falls SD; and brother- in-law, Lawrence (Jacqueline) Weiss of Edmonton, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and their families.
There are hopes for a celebration of life in Anne’s Honor to be held in August – Covid permitting.

We extend our sincere condolences to you and your family Eric. Ann was always a spirited conversationalist in the few years that we’ve known her. Quit witted and full of the devil! Hope the fond memories of your many years together will help you cope in this difficult time.

My heart goes out to Eric and the family,
I’ve only meet Annie 7 years ago but when I meet her for the first time my heart had the biggest impact of love and joy. She was by far one of the most craziest funniest people I’ve meet in a long time. Every time I saw her I would get the biggest hug and one of her hugs was like getting a gift on Christmas day. I’m going to miss doing her hair and listening to the stories and what Eric is doing today for her. She will be missed and always be in my heart.
Love Mike
