Anna was a dear friend. I met her in 1984 when I started teaching at AVC (now NorQuest College.) She was already there, as Coordinator of the ABE, Basic Ed, Department. She loved her students, taking great care that they were looked after both educationally and emotionally. She loved adult literacy and during Read-In invited great speakers. She was also a decorator. The front lobby of the college would be brimming with haystacks and pumpkins at Hallowe’en. Anna loved entertaining. On the evening before the last day of school in June, she would invite all the women teachers to the lake for a sleep-over. The only bad part was having to drive in to Edmonton for the staff meeting the next day! Anna loved her animals, and we heard many stories of her exploits with horses, dogs, and cats. She was a dear, dear friend whom I hold in my heart.
My memories of Anna always put a smile on my face. She was a joyful, kind and authentic friend. We spent many years working together on READin Week and enjoyed sharing the love of reading with Edmontonians – from babies to seniors. Anna will be missed by many of us who crossed paths with her. Rest In Peace Anna! 🙏🤗❤️
