Brenda chose to write her own obituary during her illness, here are her words.
Brenda passed away on July 21 at St Joseph’s auxiliary Hospital at the age of 63 after enduring a rare form of cancer, peritoneal.
Survived by her Brother Gordon, Nephew Daniel (wife Sarah, Great Nephew Jordon, Great Niece Sierra-who gave the most amazing magic hugs), Nephew Martin (wife Kerie-Lynn, Great Nephews Torsten and Corven). Predeceased by her Father Walter, Mother Selma, Sister Carol and Sister-in-law Irene.
Brenda was born in Edmonton and raised on the family farm outside of Leduc with her family. After graduating college, Brenda joined Woodward’s Travel and enjoyed a career in the travel industry, visiting many countries. She then transitioned into a career in Property Management (Olympia & York, CIBC Development Corp, GWL Realty Advisors) and finally joined Alberta Health Services in Capital Management. She also enjoyed many memorable food and travel adventures to New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Italy and France with Gail and Jon Hall on their Seasoned Solutions Culinary Tours.
Special thanks to her longtime family Physician, Dr. Colliton and Dr. Schepansky and the wonderful team at the Cross Cancer Institute along with St Joseph’s hospital. Also many thanks to Liz and Norm for their assistance with taking Brenda to her treatments, and Charlotte for her horticultural assistance. And Brenda wished to express her eternal thanks, gratitude and love to Daniel and his family for the love and support offered during her illness. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Please visit her Memorial Page on Facebook to share any photos, memories and condolences.

Such a sad day when I heard. Brenda was always the rock. There for others. Caring for others. I only hope that she will be taken good care of now eternally. A quiet lady well respected. I’m sure she’s in good hands.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Brenda Hirsekorn. We have been friends since grade 5, and when I moved away we were long time pen pals (I still have every letter!) until I resettled in Edmonton, after that we did the Fringe every year. I am shocked and sadden to hear of her loss. She was a wonderful person with a very kind heart.

I am shocked and so very deeply saddened to hear of Brenda’s passing. We had been friends since grade 7. I have many happy memories of Brenda, and had the great good fortune to have been chosen as her travel companion to Australia and China. She was kind, compassionate, rarely complained about anything, had a ‘just get on with things’ attitude, was an extremely good cook, and had a wonderful sense of humour. She will be deeply missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have had Brenda be a part of their life. My deepest condolences to Brenda’s family. ❤️

I just learned of Brenda’s passing and was very shocked and sad to hear. We would do the Fringe with Brenda and have dinner and drinks over the years. Another dear friend Gary would join us for fun and laughter. So sad to hear.
