Early in the afternoon on Monday, May 24th, Helen “Nell” Robson passed away at the age of 91 due to complications from Dementia.
Nell leaves behind her son David and grandsons, Mathew, Nathan and Jeremiah, son Denis and daughter Lisa. She was predeceased by her husband Grant in 2015, son Jim in 2009 and granddaughter Amanda in 1992.
Nell was born and raised in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, where she met the love of her life Grant while going to school. In 1948 they married and moved to Ocean Falls, BC, where they spent 11 years, making many lasting friendships and raising their 3 boys. They then moved to Hinton, Alberta, where they resided for 45 years, had their daughter Lisa and again developed may wonderful friendships. In 2004, Nell and Grant moved into Edmonton residing close to downtown and the beautiful river valley.
Nell was very artistic throughout her life – knitting, crocheting, sewing, drawing, painting (she was an award winning watercolor artist) doing pottery and ceramics, making porcelain dolls and was a talented florist. She ran very successful flower and gift shops in Hinton, Grande Cache and Edmonton and for many years taught and sold Ceramics in Hinton. After Grant passed, Nell began to slow down and in the past 2 years started to show signs of dementia. Unfortunately the lockdowns imposed during the current Covid-19 outbreak, hastened her mental decline and in March she moved into Long Term Care where she was until she passed. She truly lived life to the fullest, touched many people during her 91 years and will be greatly missed.
As per her wishes no funeral service will be held. Her ashes will be spread at a later date in sight of the mountains, back with her beloved Grant.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rosedale Villa and Manor for the kindness and care they provided Nell during her 17 years of residency and to the staff at Venta Care for their care and compassion during the last 2 months of her life.
